August 4 we're on our way.

The trip to Arkansas is 13 hours as the turtle travels. But some rabbits can make it in 11 hours. I chose the turtle route. So we stopped about halfway in Effingham, IL. The place is called Camp Lakewood.

The spot they gave us was clean, pretty, quiet and even had a platform from which to eat.

We arrived in AR on June 5 and after initial greets and hugs went to Hickory Creek campground to setup. This time we didn't miss the turn.

We stayed at the same site as in April. But what had changed was the amount of water in Arkansas since we left. After talking to a park ranger, we found out that the dams to the lake had almost breached. Some of the camp sites in Hickory Creek were covered with water. It is hard to tell from this picture, but the water beyond the RV would normally be 100 feet away.

On the 7th we had the family over to the camper for an electronic scavenger hunt. Each kid had an iPod or an iPhone. I sent to each a list of the items for the hunt. The object was to find them in the area and take a picture. First one back wins. It was a great time for the millennial group.

Here are a couple pictures so you get the idea. And one shows the youngest boy with a tooth missing.

August 9 we celebrated birthdays after church. Nice lazy day.
